The Flores Island is part of the so-called Western Group along with Corvo Island. It consists mostly of mountains, large ravines and gigantic cliffs. The highest point of Flores is the Morro Alto, with 914 meters of altitude.
The islet of Monchique is the westernmost point of Portugal and Europe (although the island rests on the North American continental plate). It is often considered one of the most beautiful islands in the archipelago.
