The flower carpet, as usual, will be installed in front of the Town Hall building and will be exposed for two weeks. The central image of the rug will be the word ‘Hope’, which refers to the common desire to return to the normality we knew before the covid-19 pandemic.
Ribeira Grande Town Hall will keep special attention to the compliance with the Covid measures, ensuring social distance and the control of any people who want to appreciate the work that will be exposed until May 9th.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s Flower Festival basically takes on a symbolic character. “We chose to hold the event in order to pass on a message of hope to people. That is why the chosen theme is hope and that is why the party will not take place in the usual way, fulfilling the recommendations” explained Alexandre Gaudêncio.
The Mayor of Ribeira Grande maintained that “the event in the possible way also helps to help the local economy, in particular businesspeople linked to floriculture.”
The events included in the Flower Festival program will be streamed on the Facebook page of the Ribeira Grande City Hall. The exhibitions that will be on display in the municipal museums can be visited in person and online in compliance with the recommendations.
