And if you want a better reason, visit the fantastic viewpoints that the islands offer. And you can jump from beach to beach and enjoy the different conditions that each one offers.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">WARNING<\/span>: In the Azores, there are not those beaches of white sand of the leaflets. In the Azores you don&#8217;t find crazy nights, but in summer there are lots of festivals.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3><strong>LOW TEMPERATURES AT SEA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12728\" src=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Baleia-azul.jpg\" alt=\"Baleia azul\" width=\"640\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Baleia-azul.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Baleia-azul-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><br \/>\nNo ice baths here, Arctic divings and blue-cold bodies. The sea temperature is mild, attracting large marine mammals to true sanctuaries in the Azores. And the Azores are a migratory route of several species.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3><strong>RIVERS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12713\" src=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/rio.jpg\" alt=\"Rio\" width=\"640\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/rio.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/rio-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><br \/>\nIn the Azores there are no boats to cross rivers, here you sail in open sea during hours.<\/p>\n<p>In the so-called Triangle (the islands of S\u00e3o Jorge, Faial and Pico) the boats sail all year round, being an important contribution to the mobility between the islands. It&#8217;s a kind of \u201cI&#8217;m going to take the boat to work and I&#8217;ll be right back\u201d but in the open sea. Or \u201c<em> today I had to wander off a whale <\/em>\u201d! With basalt we do everything we need: walls, houses, decoration, art and even a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/en\/destination\/pico\/madalena\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">huge vineyard at Pico<\/a>, considered a UNESCO heritage site. Which is a big advantage when going to the beach. On a rainy day go to the beach and the good weather will come.<\/p>\n<p>Since this is not guaranteed to happen, we leave you three alternatives in S\u00e3o Miguel: Po\u00e7a da Dona Beija, Caldeira Velha and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/en\/destination\/sao-miguel\/povoacao\/furnas\/parque-terra-nostra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Terra Nostra Garden<\/a>, all with natural warm waters directly from the interior of the earth. We have no zoos !!!! But our concern with wildlife is daily.<\/p>\n<p>In the Azores there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinazores.com\/EN\/fauna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wild species<\/a>, a native donkey in Graciosa and a few gram-weight bird called &#8220;priolo&#8221; in the forests of northeastern Sao Miguel. This species is endangered worldwide and is protected by law.<\/p>\n<p>In the Azores we like to protect what is ours.
