No Jardim Botânico José do Canto, que pertence à Fundação do Jardim José do Canto, existem várias edificações. A mais antiga é a CAPELA DE SANT’ANA.

Situa-se no extremo sudoeste do Jardim, existindo mesmo uma porta lateral que comunica com aquele espaço botânico.

Junto da Ermida existem as ruínas de um antigo Recolhimento.

Fundada em 1624 por António de Frias, “licenciado, bom letrado e cavaleiro do hábito de Cristo” e sua esposa.

É considerada um típico e bem conservado exemplar da arquitectura religiosa micaelense, seiscentista.

A Capela de Sant´Ana está aberta e pode ser visitada, através da entrada pelo Jardim Botânico José do Canto. Do recolhimento, a poente, só resta parte da frontaria. Foi classificada como imóvel de interesse público pelo Governo Regional dos Açores.

In Jardim Botânico José do Canto, which belongs to the José do Canto Garden Foundation, there are several buildings. The oldest is the CHAPEL OF SANT’ANA.

It is located at the southwest end of the Garden, there is even a side door that communicates with that botanical space.

Next to the Hermitage there are the ruins of an old Recolhimento.

It is considered a typical and well-preserved example of the 16th-century micaelense religious architecture.

The Chapel of Sant’Ana is open and can be visited through the entrance of the Botanical Garden José do Canto. From the recollection, the west, only part of the border remains. It was classified as a property of public interest by the Regional Government of the Azores.
