O concelho de Nordeste é caracterizado por uma topografia muito acidentada, quase totalmente arborizada, quer por manchas de espécies florestais exóticas plantadas com vista à produção de madeira e à protecção dos seus terrenos, quer por grandes manchas de vegetação endémica de alto valor botânico-científico.

The municipality of “Nordeste” (Northeast), is one of the most attractive in São Miguel. It is characterized by an irregular surface area almost totally covered with trees. Many of the exotic sylvan species used for the production of wood and for the protection of properties along with a great variety of other lush vegetation are in abundance here.
