Pico da Barrosa - Destinazores

Pico da Barrosa

Parapente

The access to Pico da Barrosa is done from the county of Lagoa or the county of Ribeira Grande (please see maps below). The route from Ribeira Grande is of tourist interest, with an interesting set of viewpoints for the north coast and the “mandatory” stop at Caldeira Velha. All the routee end in the car park next to the antennas.

The flight in Pico da Barrosa is thermal with great possibility of performing cross and with several take-offs for several quadrants. The existence of two geothermal power stations allows the formation of powerful (artificial) thermals, which can be used to enhance the flight by more experienced pilots.
Do not fly without the knowledge of the local pilots and without the authorization of the competent authorities. In the approach to the official landing, avoid flying over the geothermal power stations.
